Bridgette Harris, 30, has been identified as the driver who was killed this week on MD Route 5 (Branch Avenue) in Clinton after crashing at the scene of a previous crash, according to state police on Friday, April 21.

Harris was driving a 2003 Honda Accord at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19 near the Capital Beltway approaching a crash scene that was being investigated by a state police trooper as a tow truck driver removed one of the vehicles involved.

For unknown reasons, police say that Harris’ Honda smashed into the back of the tow truck at the scene of the original crash, which was then pushed into the state police cruiser, both of which were unoccupied.

Both the patrol vehicle and tow truck had their emergency lights activated at the time of the crash, officials noted.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
